NEURO SCIENCE CENTER

     St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo offers full range of special medical services under its SPICE program or the St. Paul Integrated Centre of Expertise to ensure efficient diagnosis while preserving its commitment towards a more innovative, excellent and compassionate healthcare service. 


The NueroScience Center of St.Paul's Hospital is designed to facilitate and diagnose neurological related illnesses serving both in and out patients across Panay. The center offers procedures such as Ekectoencephalography (EEG), EEG Video Monitoring, Transcranial Doppler (TCD), and Memory test to help diagnose and treat neurological related problems in a systematic and effective approach. The unit houses the first Memory Clinic which facilitates in the screening and testing of memory conditions.

MEMORY CENTER

     EEG Unit is a special unit in the hospital equipped and designed to help facilitate medical care through controlled and centralized method of performing procedures for diagnosing illness related to neurological problem. It serves patients who are confined in the hospital as well as out-patients are for medical check-up. 


     In keeping pace with digital technology on performing simple and reliable EEG procedures, St. Paul’s Hospital acquired the new Cadwell Easy II EEG last December 1999. First of its kind to use digital EEG in Western Visayas, it cater to patients admitted in the hospital as well as out patients especially coming from all the provinces of Panay. 


     The EEG Unit was blessed and formally opened last December 14, 1999. Two weeks after digital EEG procedures were done to in and out patients. Prior to its operation, two EEG technicians were trained at Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Manila for adult patient and pediatric patients and also at the Philippine Children Medical Center (PCMP) in order to run and handle the EEG machine properly. 


     EEG version was upgraded to 2.1 last August 21, 2007 which includes a video camera for a better documentation and recording. 

PHILOSOPHY OF SERVICE

     The EEG is committed to patiently serve clients regardless of age, sex status and creed. Motivated with compassionate caring, the unit staff promptly attends, assists and answers the health care needs of clients.


1. To improve and promote better patient care by:


  • Providing a more systematic and better way of doing diagnostic procedure such as: EEG and TCD


  • Giving immediate and proper attention to those who are to undergo the procedures by trained technicians; giving clear and detailed instructions and cordial accommodation and before and after the procedures has been done.


  • Provide special equipment and enough supplies and apparatus intended for use in the performance of p-procedures.

2.  To facilitate and improve communication by: 


  • Helping the personal affiliates create the spirit of cooperation and understanding through proper orientation, training and coordination between the different departments of the hospital where the affiliates come from.


  • To maintain a congenial atmosphere for the client, doctors, unit staff and other departments.

3. Provides and maintains accurate records of all patient who underwent the procedures.


4. To give opportunities for the hospital staff to develops and improve their sense of responsibility and resourcefulness.


5. To ensure the sustainability of health care serve by proper and careful handling of equipment, economy of supplies and prompt repair or maintain efficient functioning of machines.


6. To include a positive and conferences for personal and professional growth and development.

DELIVERY OF SERVICES

 The EEG Unit provides routine services, from 8am-4pm and answer emergency call during Sunday and Holiday. For more information you may call local 6343.
