"Support the Fight, Spread the Hope" #IAMaFighter was this year's theme for the celebration of the 3rd year Anniversary of the St. Paul's Hospital of Iloilo,Inc. Cancer Center which happened last October 19,2019 in Robinsons Place Jaro Activity Center. This was attended by the SPHI Cancer Center's very own patients,SPC Sisters, Cancer Center Staff and doctors, hospital employees, and folks. For this year's celebration, a Thanksgiving Mass was held last October 18,2019 at the Cancer Center and was officiated by Msgr. Paul Solomia. Last October 19,2019,the event started with a zumba exercise at 1:30 P.M. Dr. Dennis Doromal, (Chief Radiation Oncologist, SPHI Cancer Center) welcomed everybody to the event. This year's guest speakers were our very own medical oncologists, Dr. Marie Antonette Punjabi and Dr. Dioly Ann Arnaiz. Both doctors shared the dangers of breast cancer, discussing its symptoms and how this can be treated and prevented. Dr. Punjabi lectured on the myths and facts of breast cancer, while Dr. Arnaiz was able to share about Breast Self Awareness. During the lecture, an ongoing free medical consultation on cancer was held with the other medical oncologists aside from Dr. Arnaiz and Punjabi. This was also given by Dr. Jomar Alipat and Dr. Dennis Doromal. An open forum was then held after the lecture, Questions from some of the audiences were aired out and were able to be answered by both Dr. Punjabi and Dr. Arnaiz. Testimonials were also shared by the cancer center themselves as well by the folks. The program ended successfully with happy and inspired stories. SPHI Cancer Center is the FIRST CANCER CENTER IN WESTERN VISAYAS that offers complete cancer regimen that includes tomotherapy,brachytherapy, chemotherapy and other related infusions.
It will continue to serve its patients with care, accountability, respect, and excellence, and together as one team, it will move forward to help fight breast cancer.
The Health Care Without Harm together with its project GLOBAL GREEN HEALTHY HOSPITAL held its 5th Green Hospitals Asian Conference at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore last October 8-10, 2019 with the theme , Towards a Sustainable Climate-Resilient Asian Health Care. This was attended by our very own SPC Sisters and two committee members of the Waste Management: Sr. Arcelita Sarnillo SPC (Hospital Administrator), Sr. Ma. Jessica Formacion, SPC ( Administrative Coordinator, SPICE Building),Sr. Anna Liezza Tignero, SPC (Nursing Service Director), Ruby Navarro, R.N. (Chairman, Waste Management), and Joshua Sobrejuanite ( Nursing Clinical Preceptor and Co-Member of the Waste Management Committee).
